101 uses for an empty fountain.

Truce and Depp wanted to go to the larger playground near Parque San Martin, which is only a two kilometre ride from home.  On our way over there we found the town’s old water tank, which seems to be right next to a current water tower.  There were no gates or warning signs so we ascended the stairs to give us a better view of the gothic old tank.  On the way up, Truce asked if it was safe.  I said it was – just don’t lean on the railings.

Many playgrounds in Argentina have equipment designed for inclusivity.  While the equipment may seem a little bit robust and at times in need of some TLC, it’s a commendable sentiment for an emerging economy.  Timber slides are very common and after numerous niños have worn out their pants on these slides, the timber is usually highly polished and hopefully all the splinters have been removed.  Some slides weather better than others and some chains should be retired.

Coming from a tourist town, we often max out our credit cards when buying ice creams back home.  However, today, we may have found the city’s cheapest ice creams.  Two scoops for 22 pesos.  The smiles on the kids’ face – priceless.
